Acciona Energy has won a € 450 million contract for the construction and operation of three wind parks totalling 306 MW in Oaxaca State, Mexico. Construction work will begin later this year and the parks, which will feature 204 Acciona Windpower AW 70/1500 1.
The Carlsbad desalination project in San Diego County, California will be the largest desalination plant in the western hemisphere when it becomes operational in 2012.
A spokesperson for Acciona Windpower called it a tremendous accomplishment that, according to a recent report, Iowa now produces 17 to 20 percent of its electricity from wind energy.
ACCIONA Energy has been selected for the construction and operation of three wind parks in Oaxaca state (Mexico). The 450 million euro (more than US$600) deal is for three parks totaling 306 MW.
US renewable energy company Acciona plans to invest around €3.8bn in energy, waste management, R&D and infrastructure between 2010 and 2013, according to its latest strategic plan.

Nevada Solar Power Plant Receives $2.9 Million Federal Grant Spanish solar company Acciona will receive $2.9 million to expand a solar power plant in Boulder City, Nevada.
ACCIONA ended fiscal year 2009 with a net profit of 1,263 million euros and consolidated revenue of 6,512 million euros, and EBITDA at 1,043 million euros.
Acciona’s Red Hills Wind Farm, Oklahoma’s first renewable energy project, has earned the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS), a standard designed to exemplify trusted and genuine environmental benefits.
