Legal Counsel

Position Overview 
Legal Counsel will provide legal and statutory advice to the executive management team on all aspects of the company’s business in Canada.  In particular the Legal Counsel will take primary responsibility for developing and negotiating contractual documentation related to major Design and Build Public Private Partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects.  Legal counsel will also liaise with and manage the interface with the corporate legal counsel in Madrid.

Position Summary

ACCIONA Windpower

Director, Wind Turbine Erection & Commissioning Service

Department: Erection & Commissioning Services
Location: West Branch, Iowa , U.S.

Position Summary

Based at our facility in West Branch, Iowa, Acciona Windpower North America seeks a Director, Wind Turbine Erection and Commissioning Services. Reporting to the Vice President and General Manager, this position will have the direct responsibility to plan and execute the company’s business plan for installation and commissioning of Acciona Windpower’s Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) in accordance with established Quality and Safety standards for all company wind farm projects in North America. This responsibility includes all resource planning, coordination of component delivery, project management, subcontractor selection and customer relations management. Reporting to the Director are Project Managers, Assembly Tool Control and all company Site E&C personnel.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create master project plans to include WTG component delivery, erection and commissioning for all the company’s wind farm projects. Develop personnel and subcontractor resource plans to meet project schedules. Provide direction and key decision maker related to the pre-planning and execution of project plans.
  • Manage all pre-planning, review and award for Turbine Erection Agreements to sub-contractors.
  • Negotiate contract settlements, changer orders, and other contract amendments.
  • Prepare and report the financial performance against plan for all WTG installation projects. 
  • Participate in the WTGs sales quotation process to prepare project cost estimates and deployment strategy. Maintain a database of estimates for different regions of North American.
  • Assures that installations conform to company Quality standards to include federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, where applicable.
  • Develop and present the organization’s project, capital and operating expense budgets. Identify cost reduction opportunities for analysis and implementation.
  • Serve as company senior representative at wind farm construction project reviews with customers and contractors.
  • Identify, develop, and build relationships with General Contractors, engineering, commissioning and other subcontractor support companies.
  • Responsible for the Safety and Environmental compliance of the organization’s personnel and subcontractors in accordance with federal, state and local policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Assure all personnel and subcontractors meet company’s technical and Safety training requirements.

Vice President, Operations

Position Summary

Based at our West Branch, Iowa facility, Acciona Windpower North America, LLC seeks a Vice President, Operations to lead our Production, Production Engineering, Quality, Safety, Inventory and Material Control departments. Reporting to the Vice President and General Manager, this position will serve as the leader of the WTG production and Quality activities to assure our products meet or exceed all end-product requirements and foster a well-trained and motivated workforce.  The ideal candidate will have experience in multi-site, manual assembly for high reliability capital equipment. Experience with wind turbine technology and field service operations will be considered highly desirable. 

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly responsible for leading and developing the manufacturing team to achieve the on-time, on-budget assembly of the company’s WTG nacelle at our Iowa plant.
  • Responsible for promoting a Safety First culture within the organization and meeting the company’s safety objectives. Member of the Executive Safety Council to review, adapt and promote the company’s safety culture.
  • Lead the business’s Quality team to include Supplier QA, Plant Quality and WTG installation QC. Promote current Quality concepts to include Lean 6 Sigma and provide training to all team members on Quality objectives and systems.
  • Develop a strong and cohesive manufacturing operations leadership team. Assure all hourly employees receive the proper training, tooling and support to achieve their objectives.
  • Manage the Production Engineering department in support of assembly operations to include tool design, plant layout, production team member training and assembly techniques.
  • Responsible for the maintaining and reporting on the business’ raw, WIP and finished goods inventory. Implement procedures to achieve high inventory accuracy as measured by inventory cycle counts.
  • Assure master production schedule is coordinated with all support departments and integrated with the overall company’s schedule. Recommend make-buy decision in determining source of supply.
  • In coordination with Finance Department and staff, report on the financial performance of each department. Provide analysis and recommendations on cost improvement actions.
  • Assure agreements/contracts meet the company’s Quality and Safety standards to include federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, where applicable.

Part-time Temporary Inventory / Warehousing Technician

Position Summary

Acciona Energy North America seeks a part-time, temporary Inventory and Warehousing Technician responsible for managing and organizing parts and components stocks, inventory management and logistics at the wind-farm warehouse providing efficient materials availability to maintenance technicians ensuring wind-farm equipment downtime is minimized. This position will be based at our Red Hills wind farm warehouse located in Hammon, OK and will be reporting to the Sourcing Leader in Chicago 
 

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for all inputs and outputs of materials flowing through the wind farm warehouse
  • Responsible for all activities related to receiving, storing, pulling parts for maintenance work orders, packaging damaged parts and preparing return shipments to suppliers
  • Working directly with maintenance technical crews to accurately provide required parts and components as outlined in their daily work order documents assuring the correct parts are available prior to the start of scheduled work
  • Maintain accurate records by entering data into automated company inventory management system for managing stocks levels, part consumption, purchases orders for replenishing materials, receiving/shipping for incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments of damaged and scrap materials by using hand-held RF inventory readers
  • Perform computer system audits on stock inventory and verifying that appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels are maintained at all times and generate a report in the company inventory control system that will produce replenishment requisitions for all stock items below established levels by management
  • Accurately processes purchase orders using company inventory control system including entering of quantities, item numbers, price and vendors/suppliers
  • Perform physical inventory duties including tagging parts items, performing verifications of stock inventories, establishing warehouse activities procedures and retrieval processes for end users technicians, monitoring and recording inventory item codes, and reconciling all data variances or discrepancies by ensuring that items are stocked and properly stored, accounted for, and recorded. Recommend optimized inventory levels
  • Conduct audits to validate adequate supply levels of spare parts and consumables are correctly identified, ordered, and stored in the warehouse
  • Ensure part numbers are properly cataloged and in their proper location, according to the inventory control system database
  • Review and correct any misidentified nomenclatures, part description and vendor information listed in the inventory control system database or in the physical warehouse
  • Contribute to the improvement of Acciona’s inventory and logistics systems and processes
  • Drive a forklift, stock and pull parts
  • Embrace company safety culture by performing all duties in accordance with the company safety manual and by enforcing a safe work environment
  • Receive deliveries and return shipments in a safe and efficient manner, using forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding and end user skills of automated inventory management systems and
    be able to read and interpreting designs and engineering drawings prints for parts and components
  • Strengths will include excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to work well with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Must interact well in a team environment and demonstrate interpersonal relations by displaying a positive customer service attitude
  • Must follow policies, quality and safety procedures and the ability to maintain detailed record keeping
  • Must posses a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift/carry/move heavy objects (up to 75lbs) and stand/walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to drive a tele-handler forklift.  Training can be provided
  • Must be able to operate/manipulate hand tools and small objects
  • Must demonstrate proficiency at using Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs

Regional Development Director - Canada

Position Summary

Acciona seeks seasoned professionals to assist in the development of utility-scale wind power and solar PV projects (regionally specific). This position reports to the regional development leader.  This senior project management position is responsible for all aspects of delivery for multiple projects ensuring that these projects are successfully completed on time and on budget. The Development Director will focus on managing existing projects and on identifying and securing new development sites, identifying and evaluating project acquisition and investment opportunities and mentoring junior staff members.  

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage process to move projects from green field development to commercial, preconstruction stage
  • Ensure that timelines and budgets for Company’s existing projects are effectively managed
  • Coordinate feasibility studies and project development activities with cross functional resources, peers, and outside consultants to ensure project is progressing in accordance with schedule and all requirements are met
  • Negotiate land rights acquisition with landowners and address land use issues
  • Work with Environmental Manager to define, apply for and manage complex federal, state, and local environmental, construction, and related permits, and support community outreach efforts with all stakeholders
  • Work with Wind Resource staff to coordinate wind resource assessment activities
  • Work with Power Marketing and Transmission staff to manage interconnection studies, load flow analyses, and assist in PPA negotiations 
  • Identify and communicate any project risks and develop mitigation strategies to all Acciona stakeholders
  • Identify and introduce potential joint venture partners, project acquisition opportunities, and green field opportunities
  • Identify and develop relationships, and effectively communicate with diverse group of external stakeholders  including land owners, partners, government officials, technical experts, utilities, and consultants
  • Manage project budget, communicate any significant issues to manager and other key Acciona stakeholders
  • Prepare and present detailed project analysis to manager and other key Acciona stakeholders
  • Assume development responsibility for sub-regional areas within the relevant Development Region
     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; the ability to develop clear and concise development plans and presentations regarding project status, timeline, risk assessment, and budget needs and performance 
  • Ability to operate at a detailed level, to organize and multi-task, with a dedication to seeing projects through to completion
  • Ability to read and interpret topographic and other land use maps, preferably with some experience with Graphic Information Systems
  • Understanding of local community dynamics, with the ability to negotiate effectively with landowners, permitting authorities, utilities, and other stakeholders
  • Understanding of cost accounting, budgeting, and contract implementation 
  • Work well in and potentially be responsible for leading a team in a collaborative manner
  • Business and utility industry experience preferred

SCADA Engineer

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and maintain all functions related to the Network Operations Center 24/7 support group
  • Develop, implement, and support all SCADA requirements necessary to comply with NERC Reliability Standards
  • Coordinate with International team to design, implement, and support all fiber optic circuits, DSL/T1 networks and communication infrastructure
  • Develop SCADA specifications and standards based on existing renewable energy technology
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers and International colleagues to guarantee timely and quality SCADA installation schedules and processes
  • Coordinate with IT departments and partners to ensure SCADA communication reliability and cyber-security
  • Develop and provide leadership with all data acquisition projects and communication methodologies for internal and 3rd party partners
  • Interpret contracts and technical documents to ensure functional compliance
  • Ensure proper coordination of SCADA related consultants, contractors, subcontractors and equipment during the commissioning phase of all renewable generation resources of Acciona Energy North America
  • Interpreting project write-ups and engineering drawings involved in the full life cycle of renewable energy projects
  • Ensure the timely implementation of SCADA project milestones and other supporting project milestones impacting SCADA or communication services
  • Inspect work during construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and work site is safe for all employees, customers, subcontractors and the public
  • Provide SCADA status reports, including summary of construction progress
  • Train all necessary Acciona Energy staff concerning SCADA functionality and relevant wind farm information
  • Other tasks as required to support Acciona's business interests

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
